Good Morning!

Waking up with a cheerful disposition can be a challenge, especially if you are going through tough times.  Remember that each morning we wake up is a blessing!  A new day brings us new opportunities and another chance to live a happy and healthy life.  How we start the day will influence how we feel for the rest of the day.  Here are a few  things you can do to help ensure you have a positive and productive day!

1.  Prepare the night before.

Reduce the stress during your morning by getting the simple details out of the way the night before. Lay out your workout clothes.  Prepare and pack the kids lunches. Put your keys, wallet etc. in their “home” if they are not already there so you can quickly find and grab them before heading out the door.

2. When you wake up in the morning, take a few minutes to check-in (go within) before pouncing out of bed.

Take a few deep breaths and find something that you’re grateful for (your children, spouse, your health, the warm bed you are in, your cats). Take this time to be thankful for all that you have in your life instead of wasting your energy on thinking about what you don’t have.  Focus on your breathe…inhale for 4 counts and exhale for 4 counts.  Give your mind, body, and soul a chance to wake up!

3.  Read an inspirational quote

Many of us don’t have the time to sit leaisurely and read while sipping on a cup of coffee, but everyone has time for a quote!  Write your favorite quote on a post it and stick it where you can see it…I stick quotes on my bathroom and bedroom mirror, and inside my kitchen cabinet next to my coffee cups.  A simple quote will set the tone for your day.

4.  Before breakfast have a large glass of water with half a lemon  squeezed into it.  (I like to add a teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar too.)

This will assist with digestion and is effective in body cleansing and detoxification – it will help get things moving.  Follow this with a nutritious breakfast to kick-start your metabolism and fuel your body to face the day ahead.  Your body was just fasting throughout the night and it needs to be refueled, so skipping breakfast is a big no, no!

5.  Take a breath before walking out your door.

I know I am always talking about breathing, but it helps!  I also need a lot of reminders to do this myself!  By taking a deep breath before leaving your house, you allow yourself to pause and connect to being present.  It will also help out on those mornings when the kids are late for school!
